ABOUT THE PROJECT

In June of 2015, through a successful Kickstarter campaign, we raised enough funds to buy 4 Nikon DSLR cameras and supplementary video equipment. Our goal was to get those cameras into the hands of young individuals who are members of artisan communities in Oaxaca, Mexico and train them to use the equipment so they can show the world what they do and how they do it. Below is the culmination of their work thus far. As a team, we focused on documenting the process and practices of the artisan studios through organized visits and one-day shoots. In contrast, the photos are the team members' own work and delve much deeper into the lives of these young people and their families.

DOCUMENTARY SERIES

At the core of the project, Adentro de Fuera, is the resolve to share an experience. Below is the edited live-action material captured by the team of young individuals operating the DSLR cameras which were purchased as part of the effort to provide digital tools to the artisan communities of Oaxaca. The first episode is an introduction to Kikis and Osvi who are the two core team members. It was put together from footage they shot when tasked with learning how to use the cameras on the first day they met. The resulting scenes were too good not to share and became the introductory episode. Each subsequent episode profiles a different artisan studio in Oaxaca, Mexico.
