The studio was formed in 2000 by the enigmatic Alberto Valenzuela. Alberto's formal education is in biology, however he left his scientific career in 1986 to dedicated his life to an artistic pursuit. For many years he worked with Francisco Toledo in his studio in San Agustin, but broke away in order to combine his two passions for biology and art. Alberto most notably makes beautiful paper from natural fibers sourced from local vegetation. He also careful crafts books, boxes and packaging inspired by the geometry of plants and seeds around his studio. The building which houses the studio is entirely constructed from paper pulp and clay. Light and flora seep in from the outside, to create a space entirely absorbed by the nature surrounding it.
